I’ve studied the new SAT from a lot of different angles over the last year or so: How does it compare to the old SAT? How about the current ACT? How can you use Desmos on it? What are the most common questions? What shows up on the different modules? Here’s what I’ve got so far:
Adaptive Digital SAT Math Deep Dive
I analyzed the big categories of the test. I also made some notes on specific problem types that appear to be on the rise or decline. And I made this graphic:
This is a list of the 50 most common questions, based on my tagging of the four official Bluebook tests.
The Top 20 Hard and Easy DSAT Math Questions
This time, I analyzed the frequency of the question types by ‘path’. In other words, what questions would you see if you got the easy module, and what questions would you see if you got the hard module? This graphic is in there too:
“I’m going to give you five quick examples of questions on the new DSAT that are much easier to solve with Desmos. This isn’t meant to be a comprehensive list of everything you can do with Desmos – just a taste, to get you started.”
This is a great one to use with students when explaining the differences between the two tests.
