SAT vs ACT Math 2026
Comparing the math question types from Bluebook SATs and Enhanced ACTs
Here’s an updated version of a graphic I like to use that compares SAT and ACT math content.
I’ll usually pull it up in the first session, when we’re talking about the pros and cons of the two tests. I always feel like I’m talking too much in these sessions. This is a good way to give the student the mic and get them talking about math: “What do you notice here?”
I’m always struck by how remarkably concentrated around 8th-grade Algebra the SAT is. The ACT is so much more spread out. But kids will sometimes make other observations that give me a quick insight into their math skills and confidence.
If you’d like a hard copy of this, come see me at the NTPA Conference next week in Chicago!
